Best Eggnog Cookies

Delightful eggnog-flavored cookies that are soft, chewy, and perfect for the holiday season.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (or gluten-free 1:1 blend)
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup full-fat eggnog
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tablespoons eggnog (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy, then add egg, vanilla, and eggnog.
  3. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until combined.
  4. Drop rounded spoonfuls of dough onto prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. Prepare the glaze by whisking together powdered sugar and eggnog. Drizzle over cooled cookies and let set before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for longer storage.
