Ingredients
Scale
1.5 pounds flank steak
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
Gather Ingredients: Start by gathering all the ingredients listed above.
Make the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, brown sugar, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and red pepper flakes if desired. Stir well to create a marinade.
Marinate the Steak: Place the flank steak in a resealable plastic bag, pour the marinade over it, seal tightly, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (preferably up to 8 hours or overnight).
Preheat the Skillet: Preheat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook the Steak: Remove the steak from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Cook in the hot skillet for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare.
Let it Rest: Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for about 5 minutes.
Slice and Serve: After resting, slice the steak against the grain and serve.
