Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (1 stick)
  • 1/4 cup Granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup Brown sugar
  • 4 cups Apple slices (peeled & cored)
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • Instructions

  • In a large bowl, mix together flour and granulated sugar. Cut in the butter until it resembles coarse crumbs. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  • Place the crust in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Cook until apples are just tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • Once chilled, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Add the slightly cooled apple filling over the crust, spreading it evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the remaining crust mixture over the top.
  • Bake the assembled bars in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  • While the bars are baking, prepare the salted caramel. In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and a pinch of salt. Cook over medium heat until it turns a golden amber color. Remove from heat and stir in cream.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan before drizzling with salted caramel.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
