Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 baguette, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for brushing

Method

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the baguette slices with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast them in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
  3. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispiness of the bread and the freshness of the tomatoes.

Notes

Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Bruschetta is best served immediately after assembly to prevent the bread from becoming soggy. For a variation, try adding diced mozzarella or a drizzle of pesto to the tomato mixture.
