Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cinnamon sugar mixture
  • Cooking spray

Method

Instructions
  1. Prepare the dough by combining water, butter, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and add flour all at once, stirring vigorously until mixture forms a smooth ball that pulls away from the pan sides. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  2. Add egg and vanilla extract to the slightly cooled dough and mix thoroughly until fully incorporated and the dough becomes smooth and glossy.
  3. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip and pipe 2-3 inch lengths onto parchment paper, cutting with scissors. Alternatively, roll small portions of dough into bite-sized balls.
  4. Lightly spray air fryer basket with cooking spray, arrange churro bites in a single layer, and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and crispy.
  5. While still warm, roll churro bites in cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated and serve immediately with dipping sauce or enjoy plain.

Notes

Air fryers vary by model, so monitor cooking time closely. Don't overcrowd the basket - proper spacing ensures even cooking and crispiness. Preheating for 2-3 minutes can help achieve more consistent results.
