Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup raisins or chocolate chips (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until everything is well combined and smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  5. Stir in the rolled oats and raisins or chocolate chips (if using) until evenly distributed.
  6. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers look slightly underbaked.
  7. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure your butter is softened but not melted for the best texture. For chewy cookies, remove them from the oven when the edges are just golden. They’ll continue to set as they cool. Customize with nuts, dried cranberries, or white chocolate chips for a fun twist. Freeze dough balls for up to 3 months and bake fresh cookies whenever you crave them.
